The Impact of Coronavirus Portuguese Consumption habits

We have released new data on how Coronavirus has impacted Portuguese’ consumption habits over the the last weeks. The index reveals a natural decrease in MULTIBANCO Network transactions since the first case of Coronavirus COVID-19 was reported in Portugal.

After the actions announced by the Portuguese Government, the country lockdown led to a reduction in transactions, such as purchases and money withdrawals. But while transaction frequency lowered and felt near half its regular average, the global value of purchases and withdrawals has increased by 21% and 25% respectively.
